Brazil’s National Agricultural Supply Company, Conab, has increased Brazil’s corn production forecast to 92.8m tons in the 2018/19 crop year up from 91.65m tons estimated in February. The forecast for the second harvest is 66.59m tons up from the earlier forecast of 65.19m tons and up 23.6% from the 2017/18 season. Conab attributes the rise in production to the increased planted area in the country. The South American giant achieved its highest yield in the 2016/17 harvest, at 97.8m tons.
Conab expects Brazil’s corn shipments to reach a record 31m tons this year in light of the increased production. Brazil exported 24.7m tons in the 2017/18 season.
