Container movement drives cargo figures at Fortaleza Port
Feb, 06, 2024 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202406
The Port of Fortaleza had a 92,743 TEUs throughput approximately last year. This figure represents a 63% increase compared to 2022 when 56,860 TEUs circulated through the terminal.
“In 2023, we exceeded 2025 projections (87,000 TEUs). These numbers demonstrate the effectiveness of the container terminal’s leasing strategy. The port’s performance is expected to grow exponentially after the definitive lease of the area, slated to take place later this year. Significant infrastructure investments will be made permanently, as the winning bidder will have a guaranteed timeframe for the return of the investments,” said Lucio Gomes, CEO of the Ceará Dock Company.
Container cargo handling saw the most significant increase among all the data for the Port of Fortaleza. However, other sectors also experienced significant advancements.
