
Containerized cargo handling increases 13% at the Port of Paranaguá in 2021

The volume of imported and exported products in containers grew 13% at the Port of Paranaguá this year. From January to September 2021, 8,908,358 tons of cargo were handled in 704,474 TEU. In the same period last year, there were 7,861,213 tons handled in 675,808 TEUs.
Figures – According to the trade balance until September, 4,741,624,470 tons of cargo were exported in containers, and 3,999,533,128 tons were imported.

Frozen poultry meat represents 36% of the entire volume of cargo exported in containers through the Port of Paranaguá. Also noteworthy are the volumes of wood (709,137 tons, 17% of the total), pulp (266,676 tons, 7%), and paper (234,937 tons, 6%).
In containerized cargo imports, fertilizers account for 11% of the total, with 345,642 tons, followed by plastic (266,493 tons, 9% of the total), other organic chemicals (170.279 tons, 6%), and electrical equipment (140,391 tons, 5%).
