Cosco Shipping announced a list of 23 ships that were affected by the closure of the Meishan Island International Container Terminal after a worker infected with Covid-19 was detected in that area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port.
Ships from Cosco and its partners that omitted stopovers at the Chinese port facilities were scheduled to arrive between the 16th and 27th of August this month.
The terminal closed operations on August 11 until further notice. Because of this, different shipping companies have shifted their operations to other terminals at Ningbo Zhoushan port, as well as to other nearby port complexes.
The situation has started to generate congestion in the area, even reaching other ports that are absorbing the additional demand with waiting times ranging from 2 to 4 days.
