Abihpec reported that the international trade landscape still poses challenges for stepping up the competitiveness of the Brazilian converting industry, which includes toiletries, fragrances and cosmetics.
The association’s executive president João Carlos Basilio said the sector is still feeling the impacts of the international freight price hikes and sees the need for policies focused on international trade to reduce barriers. But he stresses the resilience of the segment, which achieved relevant export figures.
Hair products were the most exported item by Brazilian companies in September, accounting for USD 14.4 million in revenue, followed by soaps at USD 10.5 million, and oral care products at USD 8.6 million.
Abihpec and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) are carrying out trade internationalization project Beautycare Brazil. Year to date through August, exports from companies that are part of the program reached USD 114.06 million.
