Brazil exported 260.1 thousand tonnes of cotton – most of it to China – in October 2022, bringing in US$ 545.1 million. This volume was 28.1% higher than in the same month in 2021, and revenue from the foreign market was 56.4% higher. October is the third month of the 2022/23 cotton export calendar.
In October 2022, Brazil’s largest cotton importer was China, which holds a 42% share of total shipments. Bangladesh, Vietnam, Turkiye, and Pakistan complete the list of the five leading importers of Brazilian cotton in the tenth month of the year. In total, 11 countries increased imports of the Brazilian commodity, and only eight nations reduced purchases compared to the same month of 2021.
