
Cotton price on the domestic market reaches its highest level in 25 years

The average cotton price reached R$ 5.4576 per pound on the 23rd, a new record since the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (CEPEA) began keeping data in 1996. In the month-to-date figures (until August 24th ), when the fiber ended the day at R$ 5.4318 per pound, the appreciation reached 9.47%.

According to the researchers, prices have been rising because of the rise in export parity and, especially, the more active presence of buyers. With an environment of good industrial flow and greater sales pace, buyers have been restoring stocks, said CEPEA, in a statement.
