CTIL Logística wins 1st stage to become Itajaí’s new lessee

The city government of Itajaí, and the independent port superintendence, informed that the company CTIL Logística is the winner of the 1st bidding round of the simplified selection process to lease Operational Area A, which includes berths 1 and 2. CTIL fared better in the tender after Power Log, runner-up in the contest, officially manifested no interest in outbidding the rival’s proposal on Tuesday (Aug. 23).

CTIL Logística was declared the winner of this stage with a grant proposal of R$ 48.60 per square meter, totaling R$ 4,006,896.01 for the lease of Area A. Power Log offered R$ 46.50 per square meter, totaling BRL 3,833,758.53, followed by Container’s Service, with BRL 26.00 per square meter, totaling BRL 2,147,606.92.

The first-runner will have five working days to present all the documentation required in the public statute to secure their qualification. Afterward, the Port of Itajaí will analyze the documents and formalize the result with the winner. Then, it will forward the procedure to the National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ), which will have up to 30 days to evaluate the process with the possible new operator of berths 1 and 2.

The transitional lease process is a legal obligation of the Municipality of Itajaí after APM Terminals informed the municipality that it would not continue operations under the same terms of the current contract, including economic and financial terms, during this transitional period.

The temporary contract for Operational Area A will be valid for six months, renewable for up to two years, as of January 2023 or until the Federal Government’s privatization bidding process is completed.
