The DP World Callao terminal in Peru welcomed the Kota Eagle, a 335-meter container ship, one of the largest in the PIL fleet. It is fully powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), a fuel that significantly reduces environmental impact.

The Kota Eagle, which displays PIL’s new red corporate livery, departed from Ningbo, China, with stops in Shanghai (China), Manzanillo (Mexico), Lázaro Cárdenas (Mexico), and Quetzal (Guatemala) before arriving at the South Terminal of Callao Port. The vessel brought various products for the Christmas season, including toys, LED lights, clothing, footwear, decorative items, tires, melamine boards, photography and video accessories, office materials, and ceramics.

After unloading, the Kota Eagle loaded Peruvian products bound for Asia. The route included stops at the ports of Guayaquil (Ecuador), Manzanillo (Mexico), Busan (South Korea), Kaohsiung (Taiwan), Shekou (South China), Hong Kong (China), and finally Ningbo (China).

“We are very excited to welcome the Kota Eagle, a container ship from our client PIL to Peru for the first time. Thanks to the inauguration of the Muelle Bicentenario, which increased our capacity by 80%, we can now accommodate ships of this size at our terminal. Besides its size and capacity, the Kota Eagle stands out for operating on LNG. This cleaner fuel alternative aligns with our decarbonization strategy,” said Marco Hernández, General Manager of DP World Callao.

The Kota Eagle is one of the most modern vessels in PIL’s fleet. DP World has been a strategic partner of PIL since 2014.
