Dredging operations at the Port of Barra do Riacho in Aracruz will receive an investment of approximately R$30 million. The work is expected to last 30 days, though the timeline may be adjusted based on weather and operational conditions.

The dredging, which began this Monday (17), will also be carried out at the Port of Vitória once the work in Aracruz is completed.

A total of 600,000 cubic meters of sediment will be dredged across both ports. The draft at Barra do Riacho will increase from 8.6 meters to 11 meters, while Vitória’s 12.5-meter draft will remain unchanged.

According to VPorts, the concessionaire managing the Vitória, Capuaba, and Barra do Riacho port complex, the investment aims to enhance and modernize port infrastructure while improving operational safety and efficiency.

“This will be the first dredging campaign at Barra do Riacho, ensuring the port meets quality requirements. In Vitória, the dredging will allow the port to operate without any operational restrictions,” said VPorts CEO Gustavo Serrão.

The project will be overseen by VPorts’ Engineering and Environmental teams, in partnership with specialized firms handling environmental management and dredging operations. The dredged material will be disposed of at a licensed offshore disposal site.

During the 60-day project, port operations will continue uninterrupted, with all interventions communicated and coordinated in advance with the port community.
