Navigate through the ranks below to discover the top trade partners of the countries on the East Coast of South America, measured in terms of their container trade from January to May of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023. The data information featured below was collected by Datamar’s Business Intelligence team.

Brazil’s top destination for container exports is still China, which took in 219,814 TEUs between January and May 2024—a 32.5% increase over the same period in 2023. In the same comparison, Brazil’s second-largest export trading partner, the United States, received 11.7% more shipments. Shipments to Mexico increased by 27.7%. View the complete list here:

China was Brazil’s top trade partner for container imports in the first five months of this year, accounting for 584,466 TEUs, a 35.3% increase over the same period in 2023. The United States came in second, with a 19% increase. Germany’s imports decreased by 1% in the same comparison. More information is available below:

China is Argentina’s leading trade partner in container exports, with a 4.4% higher volume sent abroad from January to May 2024 than in the same period in 2023, which is followed by the United States (+10.2%) and Brazil (+4.85%). See the complete rank below:

In the first five months of 2024, China remained the country of origin for most containerized imports into Argentina, accounting for 22% less than in 2023. The United States followed with a 22.1% decline in imports, and Brazil came in last with a 26.1% decrease. View the remaining ones:

Similar to the rankings for Brazil and Argentina, China is the country that exported most containers to Paraguay and Uruguay between January and May. The volume of shipments from these countries was 14.8% less than in the same months in 2023. The United States ranked second, up 25.9%, while Vietnam received 66.6% more containers in the same comparison. View the full ranking in the section below:

China is also the major container import partner of Uruguay and Paraguay. The Asian nation shipped a volume to the two South American countries that was 16.8% more than in the corresponding months of 2023. In the same comparison, imports from Turkey increased by 39%, while those from the United States decreased by 7.3%.
