New data unveiled from Datamar’s Business Intelligence show the top trading partners for countries along East Coast South America (ECSA) regarding their containerized cargo trade between January and October 2024. Brazil

China remains Brazil’s top containerized export destination, welcoming 424,463 TEUs from January to October 2024—9.1% more than in the same period in 2023. The United States trailed in the ranking, with shipments up 7.7%, and Mexico, ranked third, showed a significant 22.5% increase. See the complete table below:

China also topped the list as Brazil’s main origin of imported goods, with volumes up 30.5% compared to the same period in 2023. The United States followed, with imports increasing by 22.1%, and Germany ranked third with a 7.7% rise in volumes. See the data below:

Argentina

China was the number one trading partner among all of Argentina’s trading countries in terms of containerized exports in the first 10 months of 2024, with a modest 1.9% increase compared to 2023. The United States ranked second, with volumes up 11.1%, followed by Brazil, which recorded a 21% growth. Full details below:

China remained Argentina’s top import source during the same period, though volumes dropped by 20.9% year-over-year. Brazil followed, with imports decreasing by 23%, and the United States ranked third, with a 24.7% decline. See more details below:

Paraguay and Uruguay: Exports

China is the primary destination for containerized exports from Paraguay and Uruguay, although volumes decreased by 12.5% compared to 2023. The United States followed, showing a robust 24.2% increase, while Vietnam saw remarkable growth, with imports from these countries rising by 84.2%. Details below:
