Egg prices fall as exports remain suspended
Jul, 30, 2024 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202431
Although the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) has notified the World Organization for Animal Health that the Newcastle Disease outbreak has ended, Rio Grande do Sul remains suspended from sending chicken meat and egg exports to several countries, including Chile. This suspension has put pressure on product prices.
The chart below shows egg exports from Brazil each month, from January to May, every year since 2021. The chart features data from DataLiner, a maritime intelligence service powered by Datamar.

A survey by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Sciences (Cepea/Esalq-USP) shows that the disease continues to impact the egg market, particularly because Chile has been the leading destination for Brazilian egg shipments in recent months.
