The multimodal terminal EBLog, owned by Eldorado Brasil Celulose, in the Port of Santos, celebrated one year of operation on the 31st, having handled 1.8 million tons of pulp in the period. This total is 45% higher than the previous year when the company operated in a smaller structure. The terminal, equipped with modern equipment, features berths for the simultaneous docking of two ships. Located in the STS14 area in the Estuary, it spans 52 thousand square meters and has a static capacity to store 150 thousand tons of products.
EBLog is now the largest pulp terminal in the country, according to the company’s Logistics Director, Flávio da Rocha Costa. “Including the lease of the area and infrastructure, Eldorado invested more than R$500 million in the terminal,” Costa notes that the terminal is the result of five years of work and that, in addition to having more storage and operational space, there has been a significant logistical gain. “Previously, we had a small terminal far from the Port and had to travel almost eight kilometers back and forth to load the cargo onto the ship. Today, we travel just 25 meters to the dock.”
In its first year alone, productivity improved by 30%. “We maintained a portion of our operations in containers and concentrated all our break bulk operations in this terminal, loading cargo directly into the ship’s hold,” Costa explained.
The operational efficiency was further enhanced by optimizing equipment to perform diversified operations. “The same equipment we use to unload train cars is used to transport and load the container. We place the cargo inside the container that will be loaded onto the BTP (Brasil Terminal Portuário),” said Costa.
Eldorado Celulose’s Logistics Director, Alexsander Ferraz, added, “We are prepared to bring this cargo by train. We have four lines with the capacity to accommodate 72 wagons inside the terminal and two automated gantries, allowing an operator to unload four wagons with just a few button presses.”
Regarding the transportation of cellulose produced by Eldorado, Costa mentioned that truck unloading time has been optimized by 40% thanks to a digital control system that monitors vehicle arrivals from Cubatão, identifies them, and indicates where they should park.
In addition, the company is investing in innovative technology to optimize the unloading of cargo by rail. “We are prepared to bring this cargo by train. We have four lines with the capacity to place 72 wagons inside the terminal and two automated gantries, where the operator will unload four wagons by pressing one or two buttons,” Costa emphasized.
A record was achieved in March of this year, with 21 thousand tons shipped in a single day. Over the past 12 months, more than 20 thousand trucks were unloaded, around 2 thousand containers were stuffed, and over 60 ships were operated. “Eldorado exports to more than 40 countries, with China being the largest buyer,” Costa noted.

When Eldorado signed the lease of STS14 on the Port of Santos, it committed to several community improvements, including constructing a polyclinic and urbanizing Avenida Governador Mário Covas Júnior with a cycle path, pedestrian walkway, and vehicle overpass. These initiatives were carried out through a partnership with the City Hall and the Port Authority of Santos (APS).
Costa highlighted the community benefits provided by the company. “Not only because cellulose is a clean, sustainable product, but also because we built a health unit, an important milestone, and a footbridge that serves almost a thousand people daily, connecting the City to the Port.”
The Estuário Polyclinic, inaugurated earlier this year, benefits approximately 16 thousand people. The company invested R$4 million in the USF. “With the operation of this new health unit, Eldorado reaffirms its commitment to the Santos community around the Port of Santos to improve their quality of life. Families directly benefit from reduced queues and have access to essential health services,” said Marcelo Falcão, EBLog’s Logistics Manager at Eldorado Brasil.
Additionally, R$5 million was invested in the pedestrian walkway, delivered last July. The area was revitalized with a new square and playground for children next to the new entrance. Three artistic panels, over ten meters high, were painted by artist Jabah on the external tile of the terminal, representing the eucalyptus plantation, the forest, and the Eldorado pulp mill.
