Exports from Brazil to Arab countries up 24.6%

Exports from Brazil to the Arab countries climbed 24.6% year to date through August compared to last year, reaching USD 11.4 billion, the Market Intelligence department of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) reported. In August alone, revenue stepped up 10.1% from a year earlier to USD 1.5 billion.
The leading export from Brazil to the region year to date through August was poultry at UAS 2.1 billion, up 40.7%, followed by iron ore at USD 2 billion, down 28.2%, sugar at USD 1.7 billion, up 15%, soybeans at USD 1.07 billion, up 71.5%, and maize at USD 1.01 billion, up 165.6% compared to January through August last year.
Brazil’s top Arab markets were the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria, and Bahrain. The only one that decreased its purchases year to date from 2021 was Bahrain, whose imports were down 25.2% to USD 1 billion. The UAE bought Brazilian goods worth USD 1.9 billion, up 49.6%, the Saudis USD 1.8 billion, up 35.7%, the Egyptians USD 1.7 billion, up 89.4%, and the Algerians USD 1.3 billion, up 23.5%.
