Exports of certified angus meat increased by 7.8% in first half of 2024

Brazilian exports of certified Angus meat saw a 7.8% increase in the first half of this year, reaching 1,300 tonnes, according to data released by the Brazilian Angus Association, which coordinates the cattle breed’s certification program.
In terms of export destinations, China, Chile, the Netherlands, and Saudi Arabia were the largest buyers in the first half of this year. Additionally, new markets were opened in the Maldives, Aruba, Senegal, Iraq, Turkmenistan, and Georgia, bringing the total number of purchasing countries to 41.
Production
The slaughter of certified Angus cattle grew by 13% during this period, with 226,000 animals processed. This resulted in the production of 22.8 thousand tonnes of certified Angus beef in the first six months of 2024, a 26% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This volume was achieved through the processing capabilities of 53 slaughterhouses owned by 26 industries.
Of the total beef produced, 16.9 thousand tonnes were vacuum-packed products. According to the Brazilian Angus Association, 92% of these vacuum-packed products were consumed in the domestic market.
“Just like abroad, the interest and perception of the domestic consumer towards this premium meat are growing significantly,” said Ana Doralina Menezes, the national manager of the Certified Angus Beef Program, in a statement.
