Exports of milk and dairy products drop in September

Brazilian imports of milk and dairy products saw a slight decline in September 2024 compared to the previous month, reaching 182 million liters in equivalent volume. Powdered milk was the most imported product.
The chart below provides an overview of Brazil’s influx of milk and dairy imports, including butter, cheese, and cream products, registered at Brazilian ports between January 2021 and August 2024, according to Datamar’s DataLiner.

On the other hand, exports increased in September 2024, totaling 4.9 million liters in equivalent volume, with cream as the main exported product.
Year-to-date, the dairy trade balance shows a deficit of US$ 699 million, corresponding to an equivalent volume of 1.613 billion liters of milk.
International prices for whole milk powder rose by 4.0% from the previous month, reaching US$3,559 per ton in early October 2024. Skimmed milk powder also saw a slight increase of 0.5%, priced at US$2,795 per ton.
