Fertile eggs and poultry genetic material: export revenue grows 26.7% in 2021

According to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), the revenue generated from exports of poultry genetic material and fertile eggs increased by 26.7 % in 2021. Overall, the sales generated US$147.7 million in revenue last year, compared to US$116.5 million in 2020.
Total shipments of fertile eggs in the year totaled 14,518 tons, up 60.9 percent from 9,024 tons in 2020, according to ABPA. In terms of revenue, there was a 53.3 percent increase in 2021, with US$ 59.319 million compared to US$ 38.691 million the previous year.
“Brazil has consolidated itself as top-quality genetic material export platform, with unmatched sanitary status, free from diseases, such as avian influenza, that plague other large producers,” claims Ricardo Santin, ABPA’s president.
Additionally, 1,173 tons of poultry genetic material were exported in the year, a volume 4.6% lower compared to 2020 when 1.230 tons were shipped. Notwithstanding, the revenue generated from exports in this industry reached the US$ 88, 441 million figure, a performance 13.5% higher than that of 2020, with US$ 77,904 million.
