Fertilizer deliveries up 8.3% in January, says industry association Anda

In January, fertilizer deliveries increased by 8.3% compared to the same month last year, reaching 3.7 million tonnes, as reported by the National Association for Fertilizer Diffusion (Anda). There was also a slight uptick of 2.8% compared to December.
The state of Mato Grosso took the leadership in receiving fertilizers, which took in one million tons, comprising 28.6% of the total. Following closely were Paraná (480 thousand tons), Goiás (403 thousand tons), Minas Gerais (344 thousand tons), and São Paulo (309 thousand tons).
However, national fertilizer production in January saw a 9.5% year-on-year decline, totaling 512 thousand tons.

On the import front, there was a significant increase of 14.6%, amounting to 2.93 million tonnes. The port of Paranaguá, serving as the primary entry point for fertilizers, witnessed a 16% surge in imports, totaling 766 thousand tonnes. This terminal accounted for 26% of the total imports.
