Fertilizer imports grow 25% in September

The availability of fertilizers in the Brazilian market continues to rise. Domestic deliveries increased by 16.7% in September to 4.89 million tonnes, according to data from the National Association for Fertilizer Diffusion (Anda).
Year-to-date, the supply end result has also been positive. Deliveries totaled 33.5 million tonnes between January and September, representing a growth of 11.3% compared to the same period last year.
Association data shows that Brazilian production grew 9.7% in September, reaching 619,000 tonnes. Despite the monthly growth, the national industry recorded a decline in supply for the year-to-date period.
Between January and September, domestic production totaled 4.99 million tonnes, reflecting a contraction of 11.3% compared to the same period last year.

The majority of fertilizers consumed in Brazil still come from abroad. In September, imports of intermediate products increased by 25.3%, reaching 3.96 million tonnes. Over nine months, external purchases remained nearly stable at 27.57 million tonnes, with a modest increase of 0.1%.
