Fiscal agents to hold two-day strike over law project

The National Union of Federal Agricultural Tax Auditors (Anffa Sindical) voted to suspend its activities for two days in protest of the law project 1,293 of 2021, which allows the self-inspection of the productive chains. The fiscal strike will take place on June 14 and 15.
According to the union, the project is detrimental to the activity’s reliability. The stoppage should affect the clearance of animal and vegetal products, as well as agricultural and livestock inputs, at Brazilian ports and airports. The strike also compromises inspections at meatpacking facilities.
If no further discussions take place, the union said it would contemplate a broader fiscal strike. Parliamentarians involved in agricultural defense and consumer rights have urged fellow congress peoples to open up the debate to the entire society. According to Anffa, the immediate adoption of the proposal as the Executive intends would only hurt the population.
The union suggested eleven amendments to modify and suspend articles that directly affect the population’s health.
