In 2021, the countryside, once again, has consolidated itself as the main generator of Brazilian foreign exchange revenue.
Revenues from soybean, beef, poultry, corn, and pork shipments totaled US$ 60 billion, half of the US$ 120 billion predicted for 2021; the exact figure of Brazilian foreign exchange revenue has yet to be consolidated by the Ministry of Economy’s Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex).
Soybeans were once again the most exported commodities. Brazil shipped 86.1 million tons of the oilseed last year. An absolute record that brought in US$ 38.6 billion in revenue. Other goods from the complex, such as soy oil and bran, are not included in this calculation.
Beef ranked second in 2021. Brazil, which faced a three-month ban from China, its primary consumer, delivered 1.55 million tons in 2021. Despite a lower-than-expected export performance, revenue was $7.35 billion.
As for chicken meat, Brazil, the second-largest producer of the product, kept its position as the largest exporter and achieved another record. In 2021, the country exported 4.24 million tons of poultry meat, which generated US$ 6.95 billion in revenue.
In the case of pork, the country for the first time exceeded the mark of 1 million tons shipped, which generated revenue of US$ 2.47 billion.
Finally, the exports of corn totaled 20.4 million tons last year, generating revenue of US$ 4.2 billion.
