The industry of components for leather, footwear, and manufactured goods exported the equivalent of US$ 137.3 million in the first four months of 2022, 17% more than in the same period last year. This data was released on the 18th by the Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear, and Manufactured Goods (Assintecal), indicating that, in April alone, component exports generated US$ 37.2 million, an increase of 24 % compared to the same month in 2021.
The country that received the largest number of exports from this industry was Argentina, which overtook China’s position in the first four months of the year. The equivalent of US$ 30.5 million was shipped there, 62% more than in the same period last year.
“The Argentina footwear industry has been in full recovery since 2021, when it grew by more than 90%, according to local sources. As importing components from China has become more expensive due to freight increases, local manufacturers are now turning their eyes to Brazilian suppliers who have full capacity to meet this demand,” says Luiz Ribas Júnior, Assintecal’s international market manager.
China occupied the second position in the rank of destinations, importing the equivalent of US$ 27 million, 7% less than in the same period last year.
