Footwear parts exports from Brazil up 20%

Manufacturers of leather and footwear parts from Brazil saw USD 253 million in exports from January to July this year, up 20% from the same months in 2021, the Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Manufactured Goods (Assintecal) reported.

According to Assintecal, compared to the same months in 2019 and 2020, the industry saw a 18% and a 37% respectively in export values, thus showing a rebound from the losses caused the COVID-19 pandemic. Assintecal International Market manager Luiz Ribas Júnior says that the figures point out to a growth of the global demand for footwear.
The leading destination of Brazilian parts was Argentina, followed by China and Portugal. The Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul was the leading exporter, followed by São Paulo and the states of Bahia and Ceará. Footwear parts include soles, heels, insoles, uppers, chemicals, etc.
