The National Waterborne Transport Agency (ANTAQ) held Public Hearing No. 05/2024 on Wednesday (15), seeking input to refine technical and legal documents related to the lease of the MUC04 port terminal at the Port of Fortaleza, Ceará. This terminal is designated for the movement and storage of containers, with an estimated investment of R$360.7 million over 25 years.
Wilson Lima Filho, the reporting director for the concession process, emphasized the strategic significance of the Port of Fortaleza. “The port’s proximity to major international ports in Europe and North America enables it to cater to shipping companies operating regular routes in these regions,” he noted.
Lima Filho underscored the importance of public participation in the bidding process. “Engagement and contributions during this phase ensure that decisions are aligned with societal interests, fostering sustainable development of our ports and the economy at large,” he said.
The public hearing saw four participants contribute orally. The deadline for submitting written contributions is May 19, 2024.
