France bans landing of British seafood in its ports

The French government announced retaliatory measures against the United Kingdom after the arrest of two British fishing boats in the Seine Bay, in the English Channel. One of the ships was escorted to the port of Le Havre by a French patrol.
Retaliation includes a ban on the landing of British seafood in French ports, and a tightening of customs, health, and safety controls on British ships and UK trucks to the French port of Calais.
French Maritime Minister Annick Girardin stressed that “the retaliatory measures do not reflect a war, but a struggle to force the UK to respect the post-Brexit agreement.”
The disagreement between the two European countries occurs after Brexit, with fishing areas still in dispute between the two powers.
