Gacc bans for 4 weeks imports from Marfrig unit in Mato Grosso
Jun, 13, 2022 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202224
The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) suspended imports from the Marfrig beef plant in Tangará da Serra in Mato Grosso for four weeks, according to a statement on the official website published on Monday, June 13.
In addition to the Brazilian unit, purchases from two companies in the United States were suspended for a week (with registration numbers 3D and P912), according to a note from Gacc.
The Chinese said the business interruptions took effect on June 13 at midnight.
This is the third time that China has suspended the Marfrig unit in Tangará da Serra this year. The first notification was made on April 7, and the second on April 29.
Unlike what happened most recently, the two previous bans were only one week long.
China has been habitually suspending imports from specific meatpacking plants since 2020.
The justification would be greater health control due to the covid-19 pandemic.
The Gacc did not explain the reason for the temporary suspension in the case of Monday’s announcement.
