Goiás State achieves a USD 6.3 billion trade surplus in 2024

From January to November 2024, the state of Goiás recorded a trade surplus of US$ 6.3 billion, according to a report from the Superintendence of Foreign Trade and International Investment Attraction, published by the State Secretariat for Industry, Commerce, and Services (SIC). This result stems from US$ 11.4 billion in exports and US$ 5.1 billion in imports.

“Thanks to the excellent management of the state government, Goiás has stood out on the national stage, presenting figures above the Brazilian average. The growth of Goiás’ industries in exports and imports strengthens the state’s economy and highlights our strength in foreign trade,” emphasized SIC Secretary Joel de Sant’Anna Braga Filho.

Trade Balance Highlights

Rio Verde is the largest exporting municipality in Goiás, accounting for US$3 billion (28.65%) of the state’s total exports. Jataí and Mozarlândia rank second and third, with US$1 billion (9.73%) and US$615.7 million (5.77%), respectively.

China was the top destination for Goiás’ exports, absorbing 48.22% of the total. It also ranks as the state’s largest supplier of imported goods, accounting for 24.61% of imports, followed by Germany (13.59%) and the United States (13.01%). Among the municipalities, Anápolis stands out as the largest importer, representing 43.87% of the state total.

Key Products

The main products exported by Goiás in 2024 include Soy Complex (52.96%), meat (17.38%), ferroalloys (7.02%), and sugar (6.75%).

In November 2024 alone, the state’s trade balance posted a surplus of US$ 299 million, with US$ 736 million in exports and US$ 437 million in imports.

National Overview

On the national level, Brazil’s trade balance also performed well in November 2024, with a US$7 billion surplus. The country exported US$28 billion and imported US$20 billion during the month.
