On Monday, January 13, the “Paraíba 2025-2026” program was launched. It is committed to investing R$11.5 billion across the state. Of this amount, Governor João Azevêdo announced that R$126 million will be allocated to the Port of Cabedelo, focusing on the expansion of the breakwater and the acquisition and installation of container-handling equipment.

“Everyone knows the breakwater, but it needs to be expanded; otherwise, the canal will silt up. This is a significant investment but extremely necessary, and it will also serve as a tourist attraction. Additionally, we will acquire equipment to handle containers within the port efficiently. We know that the port is, and will continue to be, the gateway for all the production and wealth of the state,” the governor explained.

Of the total Investment, R$91 million will be dedicated to a complete overhaul and 200-meter expansion of the breakwater. This structural and tourism-enhancing project will directly impact operational efficiency. An additional R$35 million will be used to acquire and install Mobile Harbor Cranes (MHCs) to facilitate container handling, focusing on cabotage operations.

“Our Port of Cabedelo has once again been prioritized, and when combined with funds allocated over the past two years, we’ve received over R$ 300 million. This is not only undeniable proof of the continued commitment of the Government and Governor João but also a clear indication of the right direction we’re taking in writing another chapter of our history,” celebrated Ricardo Barbosa, CEO of Companhia Docas da Paraíba.

The program outlines investments amounting to R$11.5 billion, including new projects and actions that will benefit all regions of the state. R$9.39 billion will come from the state’s resources, while R$2.11 billion will be federal funding sourced from the General Budget of the Union (OGU) and the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC). The announcement occurred at the Paulo Pontes Theater in the José Lins do Rego Cultural Space in João Pessoa.

This initiative represents another step by the government to foster municipal development, create jobs and income, and ensure improved access to public services. It will contribute to better living conditions and strengthen inclusive public policies.
