May, 25, 2021 Posted by Ruth HollardWeek 202123
The Government is sending the first doses of Covid-19 vaccines to port workers on Tuesday, May 25, and immunization will begin this week. The statement was made by the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, in an audio release at 7:40 pm on Sunday (May 23), by FENOP (the national federation of port operators).
This is in response to an intensified claim by the category this month. Union leaders considered going on strike if the immunization did not occur by the 31st.
The minister declared in the one-minute-ten-second audio, that the port workers will be included in the priority groups of the National Immunization Plan (PNI), to achieve “protection against, mainly, new strains” of the virus.
