In July, the Ministry of Ports and Airports released an updated version of the Imbituba and Laguna Port Complex Master Plan. This plan aims to identify short, medium, and long-term actions and investments for the ports, their access lanes, and port-city relations.

According to Infra S.A., a federal public company, the Master Plan is a requirement under Federal Law 12.815/2013 and Decree No. 61, enacted June 10, 2020. It serves as a State planning tool focused on Port Complexes that include Organized Public Ports.

The update process, coordinated by Infra S.A., was participatory and involved the port community. To gather and validate information, a series of meetings were held with representatives from the National Secretariat of Ports (SNP), members of the Port Authority Council (CAP), lessees, operators, and municipal, state, and federal agencies. After compiling data and assessing future demand, a preliminary document was made available for public consultation, a moment in which various institutions and the community offered their input.

“This planning instrument outlines the guidelines for expanding and modernizing port operations for the coming years. The publication is an important step toward identifying and implementing future opportunities for developing the Imbituba and Laguna Port Complex in terms of cargo operations, capacity expansion, technological advances, and other related businesses,” said Daniel Rodrigues Aldigueri, General Coordinator of Planning and Land Management at the SNP, Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPOR).

“Considering that the Master Plan is legally required to be updated every four years, it is a privilege for the Port of Imbituba to have been the second port to have such an instrument published in this new update cycle. I would like to thank the Infra S.A. and MPOR teams, especially the SNP team, for their efforts. It is also worth highlighting the engagement of the Imbituba port community and the effort to provide ports with planning instruments that can guide investments and activities in the short, medium, and long term,” highlighted Urbano Lopes de Sousa Netto, CEO of SCPAR Porto de Imbituba.

The updated version of the document is available on the Port of Imbituba Transparency Portal. It can also be found on the Ministry of Ports and Airports’ website, where the collection of all Master Plans for Public Ports is available.
