According to AgriCensus, Argentine farmers, fearing Alberto Fernández would increase farm taxation, which is now confirmed, accelerated sales of soybeans, corn, and wheat until December 10, when the new president took office.
By the week of December 11, producers’ sales totaled 5.8m tons, both from the old crop and from the 2019/10 cycle, still to be harvested, compared to 1.75m tons in the same period of 2018.
Licenses were also requested in order to export 2.7m tons of these crops, compared to 500,000 in the same week last year.
