The expertise to handle products from the photovoltaic energy market helped the Allog Group register a 52% increase in the movement of solar panels last year. Originating mainly in Shanghai and Ningbo, China, these imports land in Santos (SP), Paranaguá (PR), Navegantes (SC), Suape (CE), and Salvador (BA).
The high demand for alternative energy in Brazil and around the world should help to expand imports for the country’s rapidly growing sector in 2023. In 2022, Brazil topped a new historical high of 23 gigatonnes (GW) of installed photovoltaic solar power, including large-scale plants and systems for generating electricity on roofs, facades, and small plots of land – the equivalent of 11.2% of the country’s electricity matrix.
According to data from the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (Absolar), solar energy has already brought about R$ 116.6 billion in new investments, more than R$ 36.6 billion in tax money, and more than 690 thousand total jobs to Brazil since 2012. It also prevented 31.1 million tonnes of CO² from being emitted during electricity generation.
With several subsidies given by public agencies, such as the reduction in import tax, solar panels are on the rise among companies that bring them from other countries. Maiara Córdova, Allog Group’s maritime import product manager, explains the solar sector is bursting with expectations for 2023, mainly in terms of centralized generation projects. Due to the instability of international logistics, many of these projects were postponed last year. “With the perspective of a more stable market, projects rich in cargo and financial volume are once again deemed viable,” points out the expert.
According to Maiara, the segment is divided into multiple fronts, such as centralized generation and distributed energy generation. Each modality has a region that concentrates efforts in the country. For example, many centralized generation projects are planned for the Northeast, while most distributed generation is found in the South and Southeast.
