HBSA resumes navigating in Corumbá despite river’s ‘critical points’

The company “Hidrovias do Brasil” (HBSA) informed on Monday, January 3 that it has resumed transporting iron ore in the Corumbá region. According to the company, the voyages are taking longer-than-usual routes because of river level restrictions.
HBSA also stated that it plans to carry its iron ore operations out by means of a “low water level” plan notwithstanding applying fewer restrictions to cargo volume and transportation than what it has been done in the past few months.
“The situation of the rivers in this region remains atypical with a draft level below historical averages, however, there is a tendency of returning to levels closer to the normal range for the period”, says Hidrovias do Brasil.
