The Hidrovias do Brasil-owned port in Vila do Conde received authorization for exporting corn to China, making it the first in the state of Pará habilitated to ship the grain to one its largest importers in the world.
The registration and qualification process involves rigorous phytosanitary inspections and approval from the Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil (MAPA) and the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC).
As soy and corn exports to China continue to thrive, Hidrovias do Brasil anticipates a substantial increase in operational capacity within its Northern System, projected to reach approximately 8 million tonnes per year by 2024.
