Hyundai Merchant Marine join THE Alliance
Jan, 16, 2020 Posted by Sylvia SchandertWeek 202004
Hyundai Merchant Marine is the new core member of THE Alliance, joining Hapag-Lloyd, Ocean Network Express and Yang Ming.
THE Alliance now offers an attractive package, which will be launched on April 1, 2020.
The new enhanced package offers increasing frequency, particularly from Southeast Asia, as well as new direct port coverage and improved transit times.
The package now includes:
A new service that replaces the existing Asia-Europe FE5 and Transpacific PS7 more efficiently. This new service, to be named, will be operated by 18 modern vessels with a capacity of over 14,000 TEU each and will offer additional weekly transpacific coverage between Southeast Asia and Southern California, thereby expanding the number of services that directly cover this range to three, besides the FP1 and PS3.
The modified PS3 will offer a new direct call at Haiphong, offering more options for customers.
In addition to the enhanced Southeast Asian transpacific coverage, a new transpacific PS8 loop focusing on Central China and Korea (including new Incheon coverage) will open around April 1, 2020.
Between Asia and Northern Europe, the group will deploy two efficient vessel services for over 20,000 TEU vessels in a recently revised FE2 and FE4 service, which will bring economies of scale and positive environmental benefits.
With these changes, THE Alliance services will be as follows:
