Imports of land measuring equipment in Brazil worth millions

In 2023, Brazil imported over R$293 million worth of geotechnology equipment, spanning various fields like topography, hydrography, oceanography, hydrology, meteorology, and geophysics. Concurrently, the demand for protection services for these technologies surged by 108%, as reported by APAT. Fernanda Braga, representing APAT, points out that these figures reflect a buoyant market, underscored by a remarkable 59% uptick in the entity’s membership during the same period.
“We’re witnessing an optimistic phase because a spike in demand in our sector suggests increased investments in infrastructure and major engineering ventures, which bodes well for the country and the job market,” she assesses.
Fernanda stresses the imperative of nationwide investments. According to APAT’s study, in 2023, the states with the highest hiring of protection services were Minas Gerais (253), São Paulo (203), and Bahia (139), while the least contracted were Amapá (4), Piauí (3), and Acre (2). The Southeast region stands out, housing 46.6% of protected technologies, whereas the North region ranks lowest, with a mere 4.8%.
“Between 2023 and the current year, we’ve already observed a surge, especially with the new Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) rollout. However, it remains crucial for both public authorities and the private sector to make more substantial contributions to alleviate infrastructure bottlenecks, extending across the entire nation and not just major urban hubs. We inhabit a country with rugged terrain, necessitating increasingly modern equipment to streamline and enhance precision in our work. Hence, it’s imperative for programs like PAC to allocate the necessary resources for these professionals,” she said.
