A report released on Monday (2) by the Operations Management of the Port Authority of Paraíba (Docas-PB) revealed a remarkable 70.96% increase in Cabedelo Port’s operations during September compared to the same period the previous year.
With a total of 1,002,358 tonnes handled in 2023, Cabedelo Port surpassed the milestone achieved in 2022 in October alone. “This unquestionably confirms not only our efficiency but also the trust of an entire logistics chain in our beloved port. It’s the culmination of a lot of hard work,” celebrated Ricardo Barbosa, the CEO of Docas-PB.
Once again, petcoke, also known as petroleum coke, was the cargo standout, accounting for over 67,000 tonnes moved in September out of a total of 145,117 tonnes. Additionally, various other commodities contributed to the increase in operations, including wheat, malt, gasoline, and diesel, with a total of 10 vessels docking during the month.
Another highlight in September was the commencement of storing 10,000 tonnes of sugar in Warehouse 7 at Cabedelo Port. This cargo will be exported to South Africa in the month of October, further solidifying the port’s position as a significant export hub in the region.
The port authority president further commented on this remarkable performance: “We are incredibly pleased with the consistent and impressive growth of Cabedelo Port, which becomes evident month after month. These numbers reflect the tireless effort and dedication of the entire team, as well as our ability to efficiently and sustainably meet market demands. We commit to continue investing in improvements that will ensure this positive trajectory.”
