In the first six months, the state’s wineries had an increase of 132% in exported volume

The sale of fine and sparkling wines from Rio Grande do Sul registered significant growth in the first half of 2021. The increase was 41% in volume compared to the first six months of last year. Brut sparkling wines increased by 52% and muscatels by 43%.
Grape juice was also better positioned, with an increase of 3.5% in sales, in the same comparison. The data were released yesterday by UVIBRA (the Brazilian viticulture union), based on the wine registry system of the State Secretariat for Agriculture, Livestock, and Rural Development.
Best semester in history for exports
Other data from the wine sector that draws attention in the first half of this year is the increased exports of wines and sparkling wines. In volume, the country sent 409,600 nine-liter boxes abroad, increasing 127% over the beginning of 2020. In value, the growth was 85% and reached US$ 5.7 million.

For sparkling wines, the main destination was the United States. Paraguay maintained its leadership in the still wine segment (all those that do not receive added alcohol and do not have carbon dioxide gas).
