The Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries (Abiove) has estimated the country’s soybean production at 171.7 million tons this year, which remains stable compared to last month’s forecast.
The organization raised its monthly estimate for crushing by 0.7%, reaching 57.5 million tons. Soybean meal and oil production remained stable, expected to reach 44.1 million tons and 11.4 million tons, respectively.

There were no changes in projections regarding soybean complex exports. Shipments of soybean grains are expected to reach 106.1 million tons. Soybean meal exports are projected at 23.6 million tons, while soybean oil exports are expected to total 1.1 million tons. Additionally, the organization anticipates an increase in soybean oil imports, which should reach 200,000 tons, while soybean imports are expected to total 500,000 tons to supplement the domestic market.

As for 2024 data, with consolidated figures up to December, the soybean harvest was estimated at 153.5 million tons.
However, the projected soybean crushing was positively revised to 55.4 million tons, an increase of 0.7%. “This can be explained by the fact that biodiesel production has boosted soybean crushing, increasing the supply of oil in the market,” Abiove stated in a report.

Given the growth in crushing, processing estimates for 2024 increased by 0.7%, totaling 42.8 million tons, while the projection for soybean oil increased by 0.5%, reaching 11.1 million tons.
