Imetame Porto Aracruz is presenting the progress of its works at Intermodal 2022. The port will have a draft of 17 meters and will be a viable choice for long-haul and cabotage lines in Brazil that operate with large ships.
According to the company, the project is being prepared to be a new logistics platform with lower carbon emissions and lower costs, serving long-haul vessels that transport containers, such as 366-meter-long New Post Panamax vessels, and Capesize vessels that transport vegetable bulk, which currently do not operate without limitations in ports along the Brazilian coast.
The building of the Imetame Port Complex continues, and the north breakwater is nearing completion, with container operations expected to begin in the second half of 2024. And, in a later stage of the project, when dredging reaches a depth of 25 meters, the port will be able to receive the VLCC vessel (for oil).
The enterprise will be a Complex of Private Terminals modeled to serve the most diverse productive sectors, offering specialized terminals for various cargo and services, such as containers, general cargo, grains, and O&G.
Strategic location
The port is located in Espírito Santo, municipality of Aracruz, on the ES 010, close to several other highways, including the BR-101. The project is located 3km from the Vitória a Minas railroad (EFVM) and will provide connections with a high-productivity railroad.
The maritime and land locations are privileged since the port is located in the Southeast of the country and connects the maritime cabotage routes or the lines coming from Asia to the region of the Central-East corridor (ES, MG, and GO) and to the south of Bahia.
Furthermore, the port sector was recently incorporated into the Sudene area, with two ports now in operation and ripe conditions for establishing a significant logistical and industrial hub.
