In addition to infrastructure, the Pecém Port Complex (CIPP S/A) will advertise its Green Hydrogen HUB project at Intermodal South America.
According to the commercial director of the Pécem Port Complex, Duna Uribe, 15 Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) have been signed so far to implement manufacturing units at the Pecém HUB.
Cerá is developing a hub capable of producing at least 500 thousand tonnes of green hydrogen per year, equivalent to around 2.5 million tonnes of green ammonia. The plan is to ship the fuel to Europe via the ports of Pecém and Rotterdam in the Netherlands, which are trade partners.
The state government sees green hydrogen (H2V) as the primary fuel of the future. To be considered ‘green,’ the product must be obtained from renewable sources, such as wind or solar energy, and, during its use, it must not generate greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide.
It is worth mentioning that the Pecém Complex comprises three major products: 1) Industrial Area, one of the most crucial manufacturing units in northeastern Brazil; 2) Port of Pecém, a world-class offshore terminal that handled more than 22 million tonnes in 2022; 3) ZPE Ceará, the first Free Trade Zone to operate in the country, which features the first integrated steel mill in the region and new area as large as 1,900 hectares to receive investments.
