On January 24th, the docking of the vessel Bright marked the inauguration of the twentieth weekly service at the Paranaguá Container Terminal. Operated by the Israeli carrier ZIM, the ZIM Gulf Toucan (ZGT) service connects Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia, Jamaica, Mexico, and the United States.
“The integration of this new line into the terminal’s regular services is expected to generate an influx of approximately 400 full containers per week, boosting our participation in this important commercial lane and diversifying the range of service options available to our customers,” highlighted TCP’s commercial manager for carriers, Carolina Brown.
The ZGT line fleet consists of eight vessels with an average length of 200 meters and an approximate capacity of 2,500 TEUs. Among the terminal’s top exports are chemicals, wood, paper, pulp, and frozen meats.
Berthing record
In the final month of 2023, the Paranaguá Container Terminal set a new monthly record for berthings: 83 vessels, surpassing the previous high of 77 ships set in October of that year. “The successive breaking of records in this segment reflects the logistical efficiency of the terminal, which is expected to continue expanding the number of services in 2024,” Carolina said.
In the coming weeks, two more new weekly services are expected to hold operations at TCP.
