Itajaí-Açu Port Complex: cargo throughput and operation highlights for October

In October, the Port Complex of Rio Itajaí-Açu saw a total cargo throughput of 510,362 tonnes, with 273,017 tonnes in export cargo and 237,345 tonnes in imports. Cumulatively, from January to August, the port complex handled a total of 12,567,716 tonnes.
Regarding container operations/TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units), 43,407 TEUs were handled in October, bringing the total to 1,086,457 TEUs since the beginning of 2023.
In terms of ship operations, 32 vessels were registered berthing in October; 22 at the Private Use Terminal (TUP) Portonave; 2 at the Public Wharf (Port of Itajaí); 2 at TUP TEPORTI; 3 at TUP Barra do Rio; 3 at TUP Braskarne.
At the Port of Itajaí, the total cargo throughput reached 2,389 tonnes in October, with a year-to-date total of 305,648 tonnes.
At the Portonave Terminal (Port of Navegantes), the cargo movement in October stood at 491,119 tonnes and 43,407 TEUs. Cumulatively, from January to October, the complex handled 12,082,029 tonnes and 1,086,068 TEUs.
In October, a total of 32 maneuvers took place, with 26 occurring in the Turning Basins 01 and 02. Of these maneuvers, 20 took place in Turning Basin 01, located in front of berths 01 and 02 of the Port of Itajaí and the Portonave area, while 6 occurred in Basin 02, situated in the Afonso Wippel Bay, Saco da Fazenda region.
Additionally, 6 maneuvers were conducted at upstream terminals. Cumulatively from January to October, a total of 716 maneuvers were counted in the basin areas, with 262 maneuvers in Basin 02 (in front of the Afonso Vippel Basin), 379 in Basin 01 (in front of the ports of Itajaí and Navegantes), and an additional 75 maneuvers (turns) related to dockings at the headquarters of the Itajaí Ports Captaincy (Deltajaí) and other Private Use Terminals (TUPs) upstream.
As for other Private Use Terminals (TUPs), Braskarne recorded a total movement of 10,755 tonnes in October, while the Teporti terminal resulted in a movement of 6,099 tonnes in the same month.
In October, the Port of Itajaí welcomed the ship California Highway (Roll On Roll Off), Panama-flagged, measuring 199.97 meters in length by 32.26 meters in width, bringing aboard 1,228 vehicles from BMW and General Motors (GM).
