Itajaí-Açu port complex hits 1 million T of cargo in January/24

In January, the Rio Itajaí-Açu Port Complex saw a cargo volume of 1,007,645 tonnes. Of this total, 460,603 tonnes were directed for export, and 547,042 tonnes were destined for import. Throughout the first month of the year, the Port Complex handled 1,007,645 tonnes of cargo.
Regarding container operations/TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), 97,014 TEUs were handled.
In terms of vessel operations, January saw 80 dockings, distributed among 50 at the Private Use Terminal (TUP) Portonave, 16 at the Port of Itajaí, 03 at TUP TEPORTI, and 10 at TUP Barra do Rio, with 01 at TUP POLY TERMINAIS.
At the Port of Itajaí, the total cargo handling reached 37,378 tonnes in January, marking the initial annual accumulation. At the Portonave Terminal (Navegantes Port), cargo handling in January totaled 952,402 tonnes and 97,014 TEUs.
Maneuvers in the Turning Basins 01 and 02 totaled 80 turns in January, with 25 rotations in Basin 01 (in front of berths 01 and 02 of the Port of Itajaí and Portonave), 40 in Basin 02 (Afonso Wippel Bay), and another 15 maneuvers at the upstream terminals.
“Given the current circumstances, we maintain the expectation that container cargo handling activities will soon resume at the Port of Itajaí in May, as assured by Mada Araujo. The Itajaí Port Complex has always been recognized for its operational performance, and it is of utmost importance that the port reassumes its prominent position in the port scenario as promptly as possible. Soon, this will become an essential part of our daily lives,” emphasized Fábio da Veiga, Superintendent of the Port of Itajaí.
Compared to other Private Use Terminals (TUP), Braskarne did not record activities in January, while the Teporti terminal demonstrated a significant handling volume, totaling 17,865 tons during the same period.
In January, the Port of Itajaí also received, in its public area, the Florida Highway ship (Roll-On/Roll-Off), under the Panamanian flag, measuring 199.97 meters in length by 32.26 meters in width, carrying aboard 757 vehicles from the BMW automaker. It also received for the first time the TRAMMO STANTON ship, transporting over 25,000 tonnes of steel in metal profiles and iron rods.
