Itajaí and Navegantes Port Complex grows 34% in July

During the month of July, the Itajaí and Navegantes Port Complex registered a growth of 34% in tonnage handling when compared with the same period of the previous year. 143,750 TEUs were handled bringing the year-to-date figure to 1,642,844 tons.
Container imports grew by 61%. Exports grew by 21%. During the period from January to July this year, exports accounted for 53% of full containers, and imports accounted for 47%.
The movement registered at the Port of Itajaí (public wharf and leased area – APM Terminals) in July was 509,342 tons with 36 ship berthings, raising the annual movement to 3,651,307 tons, a growth of 9% compared to the same period of 2020. In containerized cargo, the annual comparison on the right bank of the river shows a growth of 6% in TEU.
During the month of July, 98 ships docked at the Itajaí and Navegantes Port Complex, representing 36 stopovers at APM Terminals, 07 at TUP Braskarne, and 01 at TUP Poly Terminais.
The movement registered at the Portonave terminal in July was 96,750 TEU, raising the year-to-date figure to 644,676 TEU, an increase of 37%. In exports, the terminal handled 73,529 TEU in July, raising the year-to-date figure to 491,831 TEU, a growth of 53% compared to the same period last year. Regarding imports, 31,479 TEU were handled in the month, raising the annual handling to 226,320 units, a growth of 83% compared to 2020. A total of 6,833,881 tons were handled, an increase of 48%.
Exports at the Port of Itajaí represented 56% of the movement in the month of July and imports represented 44%.
The main products exported were frozen chicken, wood and by-products, meat, mechanics and by-products, and food in general. The most significant imports in July were mechanics and electronics, chemical products, various textiles, plastics and rubber, and food in general.
