Itajaí Port Complex sees 1.2 million tonnes of cargo in April

In April, the Itajaí Port Complex of Itajaí registered a total throughput of 1,249,289 tonnes of cargo and 114,980 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) in container handling. From January to April, the YTD figures reached 5,038,807 tonnes and 436,645 TEUs.

During April, there were 71 vessel calls at the Port Complex, with 61 of them recorded at the Portonave Private Use Terminal (TUP), 3 in the leased area of APM Terminals, two at the Port Authority Pier in Itajaí, two at TUP Braskarne, two at TUP Teporti, and one at TUP Barra do Rio.

At the Port of Itajaí (including the Public Wharf and APM Terminals/leased area), 23,152 tonnes of cargo and 164 TEUs were handled. From January to April, the cumulative figures were 138,815 tonnes and 282 TEUs.

Portonave recorded 1,218,534 tonnes and 114,816 TEUs. The total figures from January to April were 4,826,367 tonnes and 436,321 TEUs.

TUP Teporti handled a total of 7,603 tonnes of cargo.

In the Maneuvering Basins 01 and 02, there were a total of 71 turns in April alone, with 24 in Basin 02 (Baia Afonso Wippel), 41 in Basin 01 (in front of APMT and Portonave), and an additional six maneuvers at terminals upstream and the Port Authority of Itajaí. From January to April, a total of 311 turns were recorded in the two basin areas.

On April 19, the Port of Itajaí witnessed a double docking of ships, marking the second annual docking of the vessel THEODOR operated by the Poseidon Container Shipping carrier. The ship, measuring 160.83 meters in length and 25.00 meters in width, moored at berth 01 in APMT’s Area A.

Furthermore, the 16th Roll On Roll Off ship mooring occurred, involving the vessel “CANADIAN HIGHWAY,” with a total of 515.96 tonnes handled. SC Portos carried out both operations.

In April, the ship Saga Fuji also visited the port, with SC Portos overseeing the operation. A cargo of 22,300 tonnes of pulp was unloaded during this event. The mooring was registered at APM Terminals‘ leased area, marking the third operation of this kind in the year. To date, 192,216 tonnes of pulp cargo have been handled since the first docking in 2022.
