The Itajaí Port Complex registered 121,273 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent measure for container units) and 1,418,821 tonnes during March.
There were 28 operations in Basin 02 (Afonso Wippel Bay/Fazenda Bay) and 38 operations in Basin 01, located in front of the APMT/Public Dock (Port of Itaja) and Portonave (Navegantes) terminals, for a total of 76 operations in the Turning Basin area of the Itaja Port Complex.
Overall, during March, the Port Complex witnessed 76 vessel berths, with 60 at Portonave, 7 at Barra do Rio, 5 at APM Terminals, 3 at Braskarne Terminal, and one at Teporti.
Also in March, three berths (13th, 14th, and 15th) dedicated for Roll On Roll Off type received vessels carrying BMW and General Motors (GM) vehicles. State port authority SC Portos was responsible for unloading all three vessels.
Also, in March, general cargo operations rose to newsworthy levels, especially when it comes to pulp and big bags/fertilizers. For example, the IKEBANA ship docked at the Port of Itajaí with 13,195 tonnes of cellulose pulp, the third cargo operation of such kind in the year.
On March 19, the AGIA ELENI ship docked at the Port of Itajaí with 13,616 tonnes of inputs used in fertilizer production (sodium bicarbonate, sodium tripolyphosphate, and barilla) in big bags. According to information from the Logistics Operations Coordination of the Superintendency, it was the first time g goods that fall under the “general cargo” label were transported in big bags to the port in 2023. Both operations were completed by SC Portos.
