Brazil’s Ministry of Infrastructure approved three enhancement projects in the terminals of the Port of Itaqui to receive tax benefits under the Special Incentive Regime for the Development of Infrastructure (Reidi).
The proposals presented by the company Santos Brasil Participações S/A refer to areas IQI 03, IQI 11 and IQI 12, auctioned in 2021. These terminal zones will receive BRL 535 million in investments during the contract period.
The amount exempt under Reidi rules should total BRL 37,860,829.33. The ordinances include some interventions in infrastructure to the Port of Itaqui, such as the construction of storage tanks, the building of a new pump park, the installation of pipe-racks and metallic structures in carbon steel profiles, grounding works, paving and drainage, and others.

Reidi
Created by Federal Law No. 11,488, Reidi aims to exempt from taxes the implementation of infrastructure projects. The tax break consists of the suspension of the collection of federal fees PIS (1.65%) and Cofins (7.6%) on revenues intended for use or incorporation in infrastructure initiatives.
