ABPA (the Brazilian animal protein association) has announced that Japan has opened its market to poultry genetics in Brazil,  based on information released last week by MAPA (the ministry of agriculture, livestock, and food supply).

The authorization is valid for Brazilian genetic companies specializing in fertile eggs and day-old chicks that meet the animal health requirements published by the Japanese health authorities in their certificate.

The relationship between poultry producers in Brazil and the Japanese market is one of the most traditional relationships in national agribusiness. Brazil has been supplying Japan with chicken meat exports for four decades and today Japan ranks as the second main destination for the Brazilian product.
